Remember Me

Theres GOLD in them der hills!

Sins of a Solar Empire has gone gold!

And no, music lovers, that doesn't mean its sold a bunch of copies. "Going Gold" in video game speak refers to creating the "gold" master disk, from which all the CDs are copied to be released.

No DVD Copy Protection

IGN got a bit to say about about this game. Including good news:

I remember hearing at a conference that when an executive at a big publisher heard that Galactic Civilizations II shipped with no CD copy protection that they quipped “I hope bankruptcy treats them well.”

Sins makes IGN's most anticipated games list for 2008... twice!

IGN might have a slight identity crisis going on -- its got two lists by two different people posted -- but at least both of them have (somewhat) decent taste. They both put Sins in on their list of top 10 games, even if it was far, far lower than it deserved.

Gamespy does some Sinning of its Own

Gamespy has had the chance to get some hands-on with the gamma version, and has quite a bit to say about it.

Limits are one of the most underappreciated elements of game design. Very often game designers go overboard in giving players options when some of the best gameplay elements often come from players pushing against what the game says they can't do. During a recent visit by Stardock's Brad Wardell to the GameSpy offices, we were shown the latest build of developer Ironclad's amazing-looking "4XRTS," Sins of a Solar Empire. During our brief time with the game we got a peek at Fleet Logistics, which limits the amount of ships a player can use, and The Advent, the game's third race, who define their whole existence by refusing to acknowledge any limits at all.

Go read it now if you want to know about logistics
