I spy you spy we all spy for GameSpy

Corny poetry aside, Gamespy has turned its intelligence analysts on the remote terrorist cell "Sins of a Solar Empire". This latest threat to the American way of life targets married couples, splitting them apart as one or the other of the spouses becomes insanely addicted to the so-called game, and spends exorbitant amounts of time engaging in tyrannical expansion of their dictator ship.

The reason that Sins of a Solar Empire works is that it truly respects and celebrates both styles of strategy gaming. It marries the grand scope and Nietzschian will-to-power embodied by the best "4X" conquer-the-universe titles with the adrenaline-fueled immediacy and moment-to-moment decision making of a great real-time strategy game. More than that, it uses the best aspects of both styles to create a uniquely enjoyable experience that shouldn't be missed by any strategy gamer out there who thinks they've got what it takes to rule the galaxy.

Good Reviews Begin

Well, the first review would appear to be out... 9/10 at Game Almighty...

Sins of a Solar Empire makes no apologies for being ambitiously massive and deep. It's the kind of project that could have easily gone awry if a single design element had not delivered. Fortunately, Ironclad Games made one right call after another.

New IGN Blog

Go read the blog, it says it all. Only problem is, I do want...

...to see individual missiles shooting out of frigates in a huge epic Battlestar Galactica-like battle.

Its actually on computer upgrades, though, really dry reading.

IGN calls down God's Wrath

IGN forgot there is no beta 5, the sinners! Its the internal gamma, and they shouldn't forget it!

The beta 5 version we received offered numerous interface improvements and a chance to finally play as the new Advent race. We've been looking forward to this game for some time now, and now that we've had a chance to try out this more polished, more complete version, we're even more convinced that Stardock and Ironclad have a real winner on their hands.

PC Gamer

PC Gamer has something to say about Sins.

Alas, none of its really worth mentioning, as its just a rehash of what everyone else is saying: Sins is cool.

If you've ever enjoyed a game about spaceships, you can't help but be moved by Sin's clashes of gleaming war machines, hanging above vast bile-green nebulae, cascades of fire peppering their flinching shields, turrets belting in angry response. It's just so damned dramatic.

See? Just a rehash.
